Re: Prominent actor Robin Williams dies of suspected suicide
I very much agree that the government need to fund the nhs and mental health related charities with more money. This way awareness can be promoted and people could actually receive help. I believe that if someone is determined to take their own life it should be taken very seriously if talked about....

What would help you in times of crises?
I have no idea what could help anybody in times of crises. A certain doctor won't let me into the psychiatric unit, as he believes I have Borderline Personality Disorder. My main psychiatrist disagrees, and feels I have bipolar disorder, type 1. This inpatient doctor runs the local crises team, The H...

Never told what help is out there
My friend has a personal assistant who helps a lot. Now he told me that I would be entitled to this, but it took yet another time in crises for a professional to inform me of this extra help I can receive . I think if I had a PA it would help to conquer feelings of being alone, and help me to mainta...

Re: Fee for GP appointment in UK?
I do not feel that I would bother to see my gp, even if really unwell. It is hard enough to go when I do not have to worry about money, as it is.

Re: Have you experienced discrimination?
I have encountered lots of discrimination, now to think of an example. Hmmm. I worked at a special school as a volunteer just four years ago. It was challenging work for anybody, these children could not walk, talk, communicate or feed themselves. At least in the class that I was allocated too. At t...

The transition from CAMHS to adult services
Found it very hard to transfer from child/adolescent services to adult services, as an inpatient. In CAMHS there was a high ratio of staff to each patient, and they were like family in some ways. They showed that they cared about each of us, and they provided a good routine/ structure for every day....

Re: Do’s and don’ts when sectioned under the mental health a
Being sectioned or hospitalised can be a scary experience for anyone, especially your first time. I felt black mailed because I was told I could go in as an informal patient, but then when I asked to leave after 24 hours they had me assessed for a section. Now when I go in to hospital I just ask at ...

Re: Bipolar affective disorder
I'd like to have direct payments, as I struggle at night times. The mental health matters number for out of ours is a waste of time because they never do anything to help. They don't tell your care coordinator that you have had contact, so there is no continuity of care.

Re: Bipolar affective disorder
I find the uk mental health services to be a mixed bag really, see my other posts. I do now have a very good Community Mental Health Nurse (Cpn). She visits me on a regular basis, when this is needed. She is there in times of crises, and often goes out of her way to be there for me. I have had her a...

Re: Art
Didn't realise you like to take photos. It is well worth saving for a DSLR camera, a good investment. Being behind the camera gives me a strange and quite confidence, like a mask to hide behind when I'm out and about. You are welcome to come around some time and use some of my art materials, as is y...
