A padlock will be displayed on website access on all major browsers; if you don't see a padlock the traffic is not from this website; or the browser or similar is receiving the encrypted traffic but not displaying the appropriate padlock symbol, be aware you should check this fact about the browser or similar you are using to confirm this is the case.

Re: encrypted connections now a standard on this site
We were using a GoDaddy https ssl certificate that had a fee of about £6 a year, this certificate has now been replaced with a https ssl certificate from Let's Encrypt that gets automagically renewed frequently for free.
Also we have IPv6 and IPv4 connectivity, for those on either the move toward the newer IPv6 address space and for those who have yet to move over to the very large IPv6 address space of the future.

TLS 1.2 enforced encrypted traffic for email is now a standard on the board. We were using Google which does support TLS 1.2 but does not enforce it so it was decided to use our own email server that does enforce TLS 1.2 to communicate with forum members ISP's or their own email server.
With registration, the email address provided must be from a TLS 1.2 mail server the registration on the board cannot be completed unless this is the case.
