The beneficial treatment with antipsychotics for the acute threatment of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar is well established, but research is now becoming available that long term use of antipsychotics has worse outcome than only treating during the acute phase over a twenty year period study. Robert Whitaker also came to the same conclusion when studying the literature of trials that had been hidden by the pharmaceutical companies.

The ugly side of antipsychotic drugs is living with parkinsonism's; the rigidity, stiffness, pain, inability to sit or stand still and an unweary feeling of weirdness with the crawly sliding of inner bone, muscle and outer skin are mind boggling. Struggling with the muscles in upper body for correct posture with its rhythmic shaking, twisting and incomplete incoordination over balance in areas of body that should work together to maintain usefulness, but doesn't.
Knocking, wobbling into furniture and objects whilst struggling with moving around are common occurances; whilst tapping the floor with ones feet to control oneself are awful to watch from the third person prospective; it's like watching a very drunken alcoholic the day after but the feelings are much worse than you could imagine daily, as the pleasantness of a drink the day before would be welcome.
Eyes wobbling and sticking at their edge and then wondering from one edge to the other extremity destroys the usefulness of overall vision; it's like having a one hundred and eighty degree angle view of a room through a very poorly designed lense, with fuzziness at the edges that dystroys the mind.

It's also true antipsychotics can make you go blind.
They're pretty evil really.
I guess part of an evil empire for over 400 years.

With antipsychotics there are the issues with lower life span, usually in the order of 10-20 years, and the usual culprit with these drugs are heart attacks. I've known many that have been taken in this way during my years knowing people in the hands of psychiatric services.
A good friend of mine was taken by this method in his sixties recently.
