Once upon the beginning of time there was nothing, not even time, and it was impossible to toast a slice of bread since it either took no time or an eternity to get burnt.
Though toast didn’t yet exist, this proved a problem for the bakers of white sliced loaves, as well as manufacturers of toasters, even though they didn’t exist either.
After either an instance or an eternity, the nonexistent bakers formed a consortium with the nonexistent manufacturers of toasters, and invented time. This allowed the bread to rise and bake, and allowed toaster manufacturers to employ people on time based wages.
